Biography
Although I had to wait until I finished graduate school to get my first dog, I have been involved with the sport of purebred dogs ever since. My late husband, Jim, and I bred our first litter of Ariell Goldens in 1984, and since then, have produced dogs successful in breed, obedience, field, agility, tracking and therapy work. While serving as the AKC delegate for the Golden Retriever Club of America for the past 14 years, I have also pursued judging and am approved to judge Golden Retrievers, Curly-Coated Retrievers, Flat-Coated Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, German Shorthair Pointers, Labradors and Weimaraners (provisional). Currently, I am running a ninth-generation homebred, amateur-trained, UDX bitch in Master hunt tests (3 passes so far) and loving the work and training. Competing in field events gives me great insight into the retriever breed standards. The ideal gun dog must have proper structure and movement, combined with a sound temperament; birdiness, biddability and the drive to work complete the package!
